The two technology giants said that they will begin to allow each other’s video services to appear on their respective streaming devices. YouTube will soon be available on Amazon Fire TV while Amazon Prime Video will appear on Google Chromecast devices and Android TV, the two companies said in a statement.
YouTube will soon be available on Amazon
The two companies have faced before when it comes to segments in which both operate. In 2015, Amazon stopped selling Google’s home-help devices on its website, which compete with Alexa’s retail loudspeakers, but then reversed the measure in late 2017. YouTube is not available on Amazon devices since that same year.
Industry, business and tech
The streaming industry has many participants, with companies like Roku and Apple competing in terms of hardware and technology firms and media that also venture into the business. Disney joined the fray this month with a $ 6.99 monthly streaming service that offers content such as movies from the Star Wars saga and Marvel superheroes. Reaching a truce could help Amazon and Google continue to increase their user base and defend against smaller rivals.
As Google and Amazon expand, they compete in new and larger categories
Google wants to take the lead from Amazon in terms of cloud services and home automation devices, while Amazon quickly builds an advertising empire on the web that begins to enter traditional Google territory.
