Germany produces special lights and lighting elements made of wood veneer. Founder and CEO Genrih Missal has developed a lamination process that places the real wood behind glass to protect it from external influences and impacts. Thus, the products are also used in wet rooms.
A work of years
Genrih has worked for many years as a development manager in the lighting industry (architecture and street lighting) and brings along the necessary know-how and expertise. He is a passion entrepreneur. The idea for his product he had when he saw a veneer lamp. The light that created the lamp in combination with the wood fascinated him. However, the lamp was not well processed, had cracks in the veneer and a neon tube as a light source.
This, he thought, he could do better. In his kitchen he built the first prototype of his wood veneer lamp. In terms of design, high quality and modernization were in the foreground, so he developed the special lamination process. As an LED expert, he realized that he wanted to use state-of-the-art technology and to equip the luminaire with smart home technology. He quit his well-paid job and founded WOODEN-Germany in 2014.
Hearing the customers
When designing the luminaire, he focuses on clear lines and gives the customer a choice of eight selected veneers and three frame colors. His first lamp DICE was even awarded a German Design Award Special 2017.
In the last 2 years Missal developed further products, finally a surface light that is similar in structure to the lights. This product is particularly well received by customers.
All lighting products from WOODEN-Germany can be controlled via smartphone with a free app. The lights and lighting elements can also be integrated into an existing network. In addition, the lights generate their own WiFi signal, so no Internet access is needed.
When switched off, the lights seem simple at first glance and look like polished wood
When you turn on the lit wood looks like a log fire and you will be hypnotized. Changing the colors and light intensity also changes the grain of the wood. The app offers even more features, such as music mode, group control and timer.
With the illuminated panel, a room can be made versatile and you can set beautiful highlights with it. Whether as a kitchen back wall, as a front of a cabinet or bar counter in a bar, the use of the illuminated wood panel in the interior area is almost limitless.
Creating a solid business
Starting with lights, WOODEN-Germany is now making its way into the furniture and interior design industry. The goal is project business. WOODEN-Germany offers customized solutions not only for B2B partners, but also for end customers. WOODEN-Germany has already gained a partner in the bathroom furniture industry, through whose online shop bathroom cabinets with the illuminated wood veneer front are being sold.
The first kitchen studios in Bremen have included WOODEN-Germany luminaires and panels as a kitchen back wall in their assortment. WOODEN-Germany is also represented internationally and sells lights especially in the USA. The innovative products are very well received there.
In 2018, an illuminated teak deck was developed and patented with two other Bremen companies. This product is very exceptional, WOODEN-Germany are the first in the market.
